Barney Noel says he didn’t have time to think when he rushed back into his burning Belledune home to retrieve his “little brother”. Mr. Noel isn’t any blood relation of Ronald Roy, but he very much regards the 22-year-old as a member of his family. The two were matched up 11 years ago by the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. “Once you make that friendship, it’s a lifelong thing,” said Mr. Noel. Al Roy, Ronald’s father, was the first to detect the fire, as he was awaken from his sleep on a chesterfield in the basement living room. Belledune fire chief Lorenzo Grant said the fire seemed to have started in the general area of a fireplace and an oil furnace.
